For almost 13 years Wall to Wall Interiors has been assisting
owners with the decorating of their homes and rental condo units. We offer
everything you need to make the decorating process a success, including
an expert staff to oversee the entire project. We sincerely hope the hints
and information listed below will be helpful.
Carpet
Because most manufacturers' warranties will not apply in a rental
situation, selecting the right product could be confusing. Fiber content
and construction are the two main factors to consider. While the newer
olefin fibers will generally clean better, they could show a traffic pattern
if loosely constructed. Most all of you have heard of the berber carpets
made of this fiber. A pretty good rule is...if you get a good berber,
you'll have one of the best products on the market...if you get a bad
berber, you'll have a nightmare. The nylon fibers tend to perform better,
have a wider selection of textures and colors, but do not clean as easily
as the olefin fibers. this is where a knowledgeale flooring professional
can be of invaluable assistance. Whatever your decision, make sure that
the padding is at least eight pound density to insure proper wear, and
that your carpet is cleaned professionally at least twice per year in
the high wear areas and once a year in the bedrooms.
Ceramic
Tile
We only recommend a Class 4 or Class 5 tile. These tiles have
been graded for heavy residential and commercial use. While no glazed
tile is completely "non-skid", there are many styles with textures
that are "slip-resistant" when those wet feet come in from the
water! Sizes range from 8"x8" all the way up to 20"x20".
Remember, the larger the tile, the less grout to keep clean.
Vinyl Tile
Some of the new vinyl tiles and wood-look planks have vastly improved
and may deserve a second look. They can be an excellent choice when ceramic
tile will not work, and a much smarter choice than what we call "sheet
goods".
